Hi Andrew, that is indeed one of Ofcom's proposals. However, as the licensee the final decision does rest with us.

We would have loved to have had the multiplex up and running by now, but as you can imagine, with all of these proposals and the structure of DAB changing, we don't want to start building networks to find out that had we waited a couple of months that we could have done it cheaper (with a different configuration of transmitters) or even broadcast at a greater power on a different frequency. Many of the decisions will be finalised relatively soon and we can get on launching. Remember our business doesn't make any money until the multiplex is on-air, so we are keen to get there!

Cost control's hugely important as the cheaper we can broadcast, the cheaper it is for service providers and the better range of services we can broadcast for you guys. With bitrates it's always up to the service provider how they would like to broadcast - they have to balance the quality demanded by listeners with the cost of broadcasting. And DAB+? Well, our multiplex will be easily able to broadcast that flavour of DAB and if a service provider wants to broadcast that way, we'll happily do it.

The digital britian calls for enlarged Local-areas, in my case Hereford,Worcester,Gloucester combo!
Will this change your plans to launch in this area (already 18months late!)
Also How do you combine all the stations planned for each multiplex into just one? (No problem if you use DAB+)will we only get MONO service? or worse?(112Kbps Digitised MUSH!)

I`m waiting to hear what happens when your multiplex is launced.
