Lincolnshire Update

We’re making good progress on the build for the Lincolnshire multiplex, ready for tests in September.

All the transmitters have been installed and pre-commissioned and the telemetry is ready to go. The feeders for the the dish links are all ready, whilst the radio links are starting to be installed. This week we’re installing the contribution servers at each of the radio stations so they can provide audio to the multiplex.

We’ve still got work to do to make sure all of the dish links and circuits are working before we’re ready to test the system end to end and then get Ofcom to approve everything.

BBC Radio Lincolnshire presenter has just stated “October” for DAB. So it’s already been pushed back a month.

Hi Matt
Apart from BBC Radio Lincolnshire and the dreadful Lincs FM and its dreadful assosciate stations, is there any news on other stations joining the multiplex?
I know about global not wishing to join at present (even though there FM transmissions do flood the county with Heart Yorkshire in the North and Capital East Midlands in the south).
Kisstory from Bauer would be a start ?

  As Kisstory is going to be on the 2nd national multiplex, I wouldn’t expect it to join Lincolnshire. As always, we have dialogue with all of the commercial radio groups. The best way to get stations on the multiplex is to contact them direct so that they know there’s demand from listeners.

I Have owned a DAB radio for 6 years and have not used it, I think this multiplex is too little too late what is the point in local DAB when there very few local stations left ? Wish we could get Solid Gold Gem AM on DAB, its an online station, run by many original presenters from the former GEM east midlands
This is quality radio not the networked rubbish we now have across the UK

Thank you for your reply.
As regards keeping things civil I was. Just because muxco are in partnership with the Lincs Fm group and that I happen to live in their TSA area dosen’t mean I have to like their radio stations. As my work takes me across the whole of the UK I listen to a vast amount of radio and find the Lincs FM starions to be at the bottom of the pile. My own personal views and nothing UNcivil about them.

Hello

Can you tell me if this will fix the problems with DAB reception in Epworth, DN9?

In the last few months, the DAB reception has gone downhill.
6Music comes and goes every hour or two, this wasn’t the case earlier in the year.
It’s very infuriating when reception is so patchy now.
It’s the same at a friends house, also in Epworth.

Hello all at MuxCo Lincolnshire,
Hearing your test transmissions loud and clear in Keyingham in South East Holderness.
Signal strength very good, equal to the 2 national multiplexes on an indoor portable. ( Roberts ecologic 3 )
Note also that all three services are at 128 kbps.

Please, please say you are having more than just Lincs, BBC Lincs and Compass on air? I know Global don’t care about this multiplex, I have already asked them about Heart and been fobbed off, but stations don’t care about individuals getting in touch from experience so surely can’t you self market perhaps with introductory carriage rates?

I can see real benefits for this multiplex carrying Heart and Gem106 but I have contacted both and neither seem bothered. Replicating 3 existing FM services for the county is a massive waste and I really hope you can give some indication more services will be joining.

  We work with a variety of broadcasters, with different budgets, to find ways to get them onto Digital Radio. There are no immediate plans to add further stations, but there are discussions happening that we hope will result on more stations joining. We have also seen, in other areas, that interest can often be sparked once the multiplex goes on air.

I am hearing the test transmissions outdoors on my Roberts pocket DAB in Repton South Derbyshire. The signal is getting out well.
